Sticky breech plugs
« on: September 15, 2005, 01:21:28 PM »
I have tried every grease on the market and after 20 rounds or so, I always have to soak the breechplug end of the barrel in a bucket of hot soapy water to get it out. This past weekend I tried T/C's breechplug tape, with low expectations. It works! One wrap on the bottom and one wrap on the top of the plug, and after 42 rounds at the range the plug came right out when I started to clean. A lot less messy too. I will never use grease again.

I use Shooters Choice high temp grease and never have a problem removing the breech plug.  :D

I use copper anti-seize for range work and bore butter for hunting in my Encore w/ the 25 ACP breech plug.  works great.

daddywpb,

Breech plug siezure is something I think I have eliminated.  The information in the article below describes my process.
