good gun for bears

i know who going to hunt brown bears and he ask my what kind of gun to use he has a marlin lever action in 45-70, 375 h-h, and a sks in 7.62x54. I said the 45-70 . I like that you can shoot fast with it. what do youthink.

For brown bears, I would go with the 375H&H.
If  you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

Forget the 7.62x54 and the .45-70.  I have taken 3 Brown Bears and if I ever go after another you can bet that I will have at least either my .375 H&H or Weatherby in my hands.  Putting the first shot on the shoulder of the bear is a lot more important than shooting fast.  Lawdog
