.45-70. 405 grain Lee Mold /#2alloy.
Powder 5744.
Primer. WLR.
Brass. Starline
OAL.2.85"
Sight. Smith ladder sight w/standard lyman front sight.
Prone with cross sticks.
300 Yards. Nine shots in eight inches. 1st shot was about five inches high.
I Re-adjusted myself and put the other nine in the eight inch circle.
This rifle continues to amaze me. Hunting season coming. So will probably
not post again for awhile. Am using a Marlin 336CBin .38-55 for deer this year. The B.C. will go along also.
Will move to 400 yards probably after the 1st of the year.

What load of 5744 are you using?  I'm loading my BC with 30 gr with a 405 gr cast rngc for a target load.  It's pleasant to shoot and extremely accurate although I have not had a chance to shoot it beyond 100 yards yet.  For hunting I'm using the Remington 405 gr sp over 4895 seem's to get the job done fine!  44 Man

Yes, it is the Smith Sight made for the B.C.
Will probably go to the 500 grain mold next.(400 yards plus).
The load is 27 grains. Weighed.

hey escalant i use the lee 500r mould in my buff classic got it from track of the wolf for $13.75 its an excellent bullet. it has a ballistic coefficient of.443,it cast at .459 and i size it to .457.it is a top performa with black powder or smokeless.this is the 500r

I was out yesterday shooting my BC . I've had it for over 2 years and love it more each time I take it out. Yesterday I was able to hit the metal silloute pig 4 out of 5 times offhand at 200 yds. I have a Williams target sight. and use the circular sight on the front sight. As long as the pig is centered in the circle, the pig gets wacked. I shoot a 405 gr. Rem. bullet and 36. gr of 3031.
