Breaking in new Encore
« on: September 22, 2005, 10:53:58 AM »
Having installed a scope on my new SS Encore I would like to know the correct break-in proceedure with regards to cleaning out action and barrel and the best products to use before I fire the first shot.

I like to use the sinclair bore guides on my encore and contenders although I belive they are not offered for straight walled cases , On a new barrel or action I give them a good cleaning and then just shoot and have fun . Dont get the barrel hot to the touch and the barrel life will be extended . All this barrel break in is a bunch of crap and more shooters are learning this .

I second that. Barrel break in is not all it is cracked up to be.

LOL - my break in for a rifle is to shoot the dang thing. And mine shoot as well as the guys at the range that shoot 10 rounds - clean it - special bore cleaner - and do it over and over. Maybe their barrel will last a little longer than mine - but who is going to count the rounds.????
