First deer......
« on: September 15, 2005, 02:37:48 PM »
got my first deer of the season last night. A nice doe, was sitting under hedge tree, only about 20 yard shot. Needless to say, she was down when the smoke cleared, 3 777 pellets and a 345 Powerbelt took out both lungs, exit hole just a little bigger than entrance wound. Shooting a Tradations Pursuit LT, no scope, for the Kansas Black Powder season which opened the 10th. 8)

By first deer I assume of the season and not life. Being a 200 hundred yard shot is a long way out there even with a scope, never the less using a muzzle loader. Did you do this off hand:)
Like to hear somemore about this incredible shot and congratulations even though I think it is not the right thing to do at that distance unless using a high-powered rifle.
Do you truly hit targets this far away consistenly?
And with a Tradition, just kidding:)

With my Omega and 3 777 pellets and scope, a 200 yard shot is very possible in the right conditions........

20 yard shot, why so long,   OH, I see you was in Kansas.  That explains the extra 10 yrds.  Do you really need three pellets of powder???????  How about a slingshot and a round ball???????       Congradulations on the deer :toast: .  I am from Bartlesville.  One of these days we will get together and I will show you how to get closer to the deer.

Well, I was hiding under a tree and I didn't see her, but she saw me , blew and stomped her foot, I froze, seemed like for 10 minutes, then she moved off and went into the woods, she came back out in the milo field about a 100 yards out when I dropped her, this was my 2nd doe. Felt bad about the first one being only 20 yards away :( . Here around Ponca City, hope to get some "long "shots!
