night sights??
« on: September 18, 2005, 12:35:45 PM »
i got a rock island armory 1911 full size
and am trying to decide whether to make some changes to it or leave it mil-spec stock
i am thinking abt putting some night sights on it
which brand fit my gun and if more than one does which is the best brand
also other mods im thinking of making are a higher grip grip safety. the one on  the gun seems to dig into the web of my hand when i take a shooting grip on the gun. so far it hasnt bit me but i would like a higher hold on it
any help on these things would be appreciated
thanks,
sureshot

What sights fit your gun depend on how the slide is cut for them. My new SA Ultra compact has Novak cut sights. I don't know how my others are cut.
If you're in doubt, take it to a gun smith and ask. :D
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

I haven't had the chance to seem them in person but I sure like the idea of the new Novak adjustable sight. I'm not sure the modle number but they have the same no snag profile as their normal night sights.

I have a couple of sets of the standard fixed sight night sights from Novak and am well pleased with them.

Take Care,
Scott

Well, this is what happened. I sent my slide to SA for the adjustable sight. There was a communication failure, probably on my part. But they sent my the adjustable sight in a bag with my T-shirt, and I got my slide back a week later with a new fixed sight installed. If I decide I don't need the adjustable sight, wanna bay it for say, $35?
