Hoe to cover a TC open breech black diamond ?

Is there any way of making some sort of gadget to cover the open breech of my TC blackdiamond ? The primer or powder residue reallly comes up on my scope and it sometimes throws bits of cap out.  I'm not trading rifles, this thing shoots great, so what can I doo ?

Country Boy,

T/C makes a No. 7337 In-line Breech Cover that would work and also a scope protector. I have posted a link that you can scroll down to the pictures and descriptions. I have a brand new Breech Cover that retails for about $5 at Wally World that I bought on clearance a couple years ago that doesn't really fit any of my in-lines well, but should fit your Black Diamond well. If you are interested in it give me a PM with your snail mail address and I will mail it to you FREE of charge. Let me know and it's yours.  :wink:  I do use their scope protector listed under the Breech cover and it works well. Take a look at the link and let me know if you want it.

I had a Black Diamond a couple of years ago and had the same problem with blowback from the open breech.  I used both the breech cover and the scope cover.  The breech cover was pretty much a joke.  I believe it's main purpose would be to keep moisture out of the breech to some extent.  The bottom side of it got burnt off and it still let the residue from the ignition source out of the breech.  The scope cover worked to some degree but the uncovered portion of the scope and the rings still got charred from blowback.  I finally got sick of it and traded it for an Omega.  Problem solved.  I think it's pretty well something you have to live with when using an open breech muzzleloader.

I  have the same problem with my t/c 54 cal. thunderhawk,cooks the scope without some elect: tape wrap around the tube,one day I forgot to add the tape sure as sh-t the scope matte finish came off under the tube.
Just have to live with  the burn mark :(
