Did it have asthma?
« on: September 26, 2005, 12:03:45 PM »
I live in SW Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A week or so ago my brother and I were in the woods checking out the best place to set up our blind for deer season. As we walked across a small opening in the woods and back into the trees, we heard something about 30-40 yards away. It was making a wheezing, heavyu breathing sound, kind of like something that was hurt badly. Whatever it was it was laying about 10 yards off the road in the weeds, the normal path deer take through my area. So our first thought was that it was a deer that had been hit by a car. We continued closer through the fairly open wooded area to try to identify it by sound. Then behind us, in the laurels where it gets really dense, we heard something snap a tree or a limb that had to be at least 3 inches across. Armed only with a knife and a hatchet, it's needless to say we got the heck out of there.

Black bear are not uncommon in our area, and that is what we thought it might be. But what I am wondering is, would a black bear go after a wounded deer, or could we have possibly came between a mother and her cub? Could it have been a mountain lion? I don't know, all I know is that it was something big and I didn't want to meet it. It didn't make any sound, just broke a limb or a tree, whatever.

We went back about an hour later and were unable to find tracks, but at the time we hadn't had rain in a long time, and nothing was leaving tracks down there. Whatever was wheezing was in a dense enough area near the road we couldn't get to it, if it was even still there.

About a year ago we were in the same area squirrel hunting, when we heard a huge limb snap the same way,and my beagle took off after whatever it was. My brother and I ran into the open field that borders our woods and waited, but nothing came out. Dog was okay.

Long story with not a lot to go on, but if you guys got any insight, I would apreciate it.

I was about to say that, but who knows if a BigFoot could have asthma?

When I was a kid deer hunting I was sitting under a cedar tree in the exact spot where some deer were bedding down for the night. I could hear a buck in the woods snorting and huffing. He would huff and snort about every 10 to 15 seconds....

Lesson for that day? Don't sit under a low hanging cedar tree where the deer like to bed down at night!

In one of my earlier bigfoot reports, I indicated that Me and my stepson, had witnessed a bigfoot coughing like a person with TB.  So anything could happen, I suppose.

That's the thing though, there was something in front of us making the wheezing sound, and then something directly behind us that broke the limb.

We got a pretty good rain yesterday so anything moving through should leave tracks now.

a friend shot a deer once and single lunged it because of the angle he shot.  he tracked that sucker for miles and every so often heard a wheezing only to boot the buck about 50 yards ahead of him.  in fact this buck woiuld run and then crawl under the boughs of a pine tree and lay there wheezing.  he finally caught up to it after it got out of the pines.  weirdest thing....it belleyid up to a big maple and stood on its hind legs chest resting against the tree and it was just by chance he actually saw it and finished it off.  it really blended in hiding there.  what doomed him was the light cover of snow that year and the blood standing out like a beacon.

but that wheezing sound was incredible..i heard it cuz i was helping him track it after he kept booting it.
