Handi peep sights in general
« on: September 24, 2005, 12:08:19 PM »
I have seen and read about the Williams sights.  The way that I am reading things, I will have to change out the front sight on my 44 barrel if I get one of the Williams.  Are there any cheaper sights to use?  I could use the good old factory leaf, but peep sights seem much faster.  I read about the XS ghost ring sights and they look awesome.  Don't know if the Weaver mount one would work on a Handi.  Weren't there two types of front sights installed by NEF?

Hey, I like it.  I missed this company when looking around.  Anyone use one?  The price is right to give it a try.

Try oneraggedhole.com.  These will work if your .44 has the "old style" sights which were made by ruger--I have them on my .44 barrel and like them -- They come two sizes to a package and I put the smaller size on my ruger 357 mag revolver--a two for one deal.

The oneraggedhole, sight replacement blade looks really nice.  I'd try it, if it works with the sight on your 44.  My 30-30 came with a williams WGOS rear sight.  So I bought the williams WGRS receiver sight and new front ramp and fibre post, birthday discount at Midway.  Going out tomorrow to shoot it, hope to have a report on it.

Got to shoot today, went from a pattern at 100 yrds to a large group.  Took me a little to many shots to get it good at 50 first.  It can definitely shoot a tighter group then I did today.  Had a couple touching, then a flyer or two, front post may need to be changed to a smaller diameter for the long shots.  The peep makes it a lot easier to shoot.  Might even try the ghost ring on it.

Best of luck with the decision. Dale
