i hunt alot of deer, turkey and ducks. i just bought a electronic call that plays tape. And to be honest with you when i played that thing, i thought they would come runing in. i dont think i over call , i Know i am doing something wrong. but what.
i am new to the game, and know luck, how should i use the caller.

Hey if you call for more than 1-3 minutes at a time you are probobly calling to much. Is there alot of hunting presure if so that could be part of the problem, are you using camo that fits your area's enviorment.

Without knowing everything about your stand, it's tuff to say if there's anything you're doing wrong. Personally, I've let the JS 612 e-caller run for 30 minutes straight and called them in. I'd concentrate more on getting to your stand as quietly as possible and into the wind. It's amazing how many guys let their truck doors slam shut before they walk 3 minutes and start calling. Anything that doesn't sound natural will be picked out and scrutinized immediately, and that could blow everything else that you may be doing RIGHT. If you're with someone, avoid talking on your way out.. We actually use hand signals to communicate only if needed. Yote Killer had a couple good points about pressure and camo. Keep reading in this forum and you'll learn a ton (not that you don't know a ton already). I'm certainly no expert, I just listen and am always ready to learn from the experience of others...like those on this forum. And BE PATIENT. Good luck to you Thommy94!

Be patient, coyotes are. I have had coyotes stay out of range for 30 minutes and still coaxed them in. Camo and set up for the stand is important but here in Kansas wind is the main problem. Try to position so the wind is in your favor and if possible use a second person down wind to take turns with shooting. I have had coyotes come straight to me on the first call but normal patern is to circle and try to get down wind of you. You will not get something every time you call, but it is possible there is just nothing there that day. Coyotes move constantly unless hold up for birthing the pups. Good luck and be patient.

Agree wtih all the above. Are you hunting public lands? If so the coyotes could be those college educated variety that have heard that Johhny Stewart loop a thousand times before and are wise to it. I've done stands where I've started with one sound and had nothing show for 15 minutes until I switched sounds. Then again I've seen a coyote laying in the grass about five hundred yards away that would just turn his head my way whenever I called and never moved a muscle. It teed me off so bad I took a shot at him just for spite. You never know what they're thinkin or if they've got a full belly and just don't care what you're doing. Don't worry though, when you peak their interest, they will come.
