Have any of you guys used a peep sight on your Contender or Encore pistol for hunting? If so, what did you like/dislike? What do you think of the Williams sight (like this one: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=141928 )?

I had tried one about a year ago on my Contender. I did not like it for the handgun setup. The aperature was just too darn small for me. I do notice that Midway offers different aperature inserts, which may work just fine. I should have tried one of those too, but I didn't. I ended up buying a Williams target-style open sight, the one where you can easily adjust windage and elevation with knobs on the side. I like it very much. I guess that it would be best if you could try out a peep sight first to see if you like it, but at $25, it wouldn't cost you that much to try out.

I wonder if you removed the aperture all together, so you just use the threaded hole, almost like a ghost-ring set up. . .

they would be okay for sillywets,but even in the "ghost ring" style might be too small for a HUNTING situation.25 bucks doesn,t seem like much unless you are on a fixed income. I tried a ring sight some years ago on a Ruger 44SBH and went back to open sights. Then to a low power scope.
