Want to see a different action offered from NEF/H&R???
« on: September 22, 2005, 05:05:58 PM »
We all love the simplicity of the single shot action. It's a good workable action and very proven. And NEF/H&R has a nice piece of the affordable single shot market cut out.
But my question to you is, would you ever like to see a slightly different action offered from NEF/H&R?
Like say a falling block or rolling block action? Or dare I say it ever a bolt action-I know blasphemy! :)

That is if they ever had the finical funding to ever try to do so.

H&R used to offer a line of bolt action rifles as well as the beautiful Ultramatic semi automatic rifles but appearantly these models didn't make money.

I remember reading that H&R made some Garands during WWII. So I am sure they have made different actions in the past.
I personally think it would be nice to see them make a different action again.

It would be very expensive and probably still not have much of a profit margin on H&R's end.

Interestingly enough, I recently returned a few customer survey forms sent by H&R 1871.

One of my suggestions was to research to feasability of offering an "American" made bolt action rifle.  In keeping with H&R's traditon of no frills, affordable, quality firearms (with the possible exception of the Chinese pump) such a firearm could be offered that would compete with the Stevens 200, Mossberg ATR and Rem 710.

I wouldn't mind seeing them bring out a AMERICAN made bolt action.

My personal preferance would be a new version of the bolt action marlin MR-7 ( if I remember correctly).  with these changes:  a blind magazine and synthetic stock, also possibly a barrel nut ala savage to allow easier assembly and of course changing the barrels.  perhaps later an " Ultra-bolt with wood stock floorplate nicer finish etc.

I would like to see a falling block.  I don't think that will happen though. What I would really like to see is a semiauto rifle on the order of a browning bar in 204 ruger.

How about a very well finished precision high strength action that will fit the barrels they have.  They could do a little more work and make a premium action with a better fit and finish.  Larry
