My new Encore is a shooter!
« on: October 07, 2005, 01:01:47 PM »
Well, I have owned one before so I knew the guns could shoot.  I have been reading several posts about people having problems and know of one person that had problems so I was a little hesitant.  I just wanted to hunt with a pistol this year and after working on a Super Red Hawk that just would not shoot a group anyone could live with I thought I would try another Encore.   I got a 7mm-08 and topped it with a Burris 2x-7x scope.  After getting on paper I made three shots in one hole!!!  Needles to say I am extremely happy.  Also, this is my first Burris scope and must say it is very bright and very clear.

I was thinking of going with a custom barrel but this gun can shoot better than me.  So, for now I'll stick to factory.

Another thing the ammo was Hornaday light magnum 139 sst.

Are you sure you didn't miss the paper two times?

I like shooting my long barrel T/Cs over my fanny pack from prone position.    Works good when stalking game and/or crawling within range.  Looks kind of funny when shooting that way at the gun club, until the rifle shooters see you ringing 4-6" metal gongs consistently at 200 yards.  Practice prone over the fanny pack, sitting, and resting against tree or post and you will be set for shots out to 200-250 yards with that load.

Hope you fill the freezer.
