Rozilla's original comment was to the effect that all private firearms owners should be jailed.

Rosie is more dangerous to mankind than my firearms. How many people have lost their fingers because she mistook them for Twinkies?

I'll be kind to Rozilla when she takes her cold, dead, fingers out of my pie filling.

Seriously, no one who thinks that I should be jailed for exercising my God given right to defend myself, and my obligation to defend my family, while she hires armed guards to watch out for her, is worthy of kindness.

My apologies to Mrs. Lockwood my English teacher for the run-on sentence.

Mr. Crevalle,

No apology necessary for your sentence construction, which was not a run-on. You might be guilty of misplaced punctuation at most.

Plato once said that we are all born with complete knowledge. The problem is that we can't remember most of it. And the older we get, the worse that seems to hinder us, I'm beginning to realize. :(

Those folks who are against private gun ownership are the first to run pell-mell under the skirt of the Constitution on just about every other issue. So tell me, just how was it that the Constitution survived the might of the British military (the greatest on Earth to date at the time) to survive and be enjoyed by Americans to this day? 8)

Meh.  Wally World is a mixed bag, they come in and whatever they carry general hurts all the businessess.  Especially in small towns.   I bet gun shops get hurt just as much as your local auto lube station because of Wally World.

With that said this is a capitalist society, so compete or die, and besides. They atleast help support the gun industry.

We lost several Mom& Pop stores here after Wally-World moved in. I've a friend who found a nitch market though. He has some firearms & does repair but the big bucks come from Bows; tuning, setting them up,releases& so on. He handles game calls of all sorts & clothes too. So he does okay but  it took several yrs. to build a good business.

I've got mixed feelings about Walmart. I think overall as long as they continue to sell firearms and ammunition without self-imposed restrictions they are good for firearm ownership.

The sporting goods section in our local Walmart isn't a threat to even the smallest gun shop or bait and tackle store. I've been in Walmarts that had a much better selection however.

I think that unless they do something Walmart is going to drive itself under. Neil Cavuto of Fox cable news has reported a couple of times on the abysmal service he got on trips to Walmart. My wife and I won't go to the local one unless it's early in the morning and at those times if you ask if anyone can sell you a fishing license or box of shotgun shells they give you a look like a deer caught in the headlights. It's obvious that Sam Walton's heirs don't carry on his practice of visiting their stores personally.

By the same token, gun shops and tackle shops are a mixed bag here. I go to one tackle store at lunch and can buy reels for about what I'd pay for them on the net plus shipping. I get good service too. I can go and talk to the owner about surf fishing like a friend. The other side of the coin is a local gun shop/tackle shop that apparently wants to cater to the Yuppie element. If you want to buy their $200 fly rods they will give you the time of day, if you want a $5 bottle of crab scent you are the scum of the earth. I'm far from the only one who's experienced this.

... a bad track record when it comes to human rights. they even have a type of life insurance on some of their employees where wallyworld is the beneficiary. they also donated a pile of money & were a big part of the reason oklahoma recently past their right to work bill. hey i know they are
a real convenience in rural areas but don't think for a minute they are motivated by anything but profit. if some gun issue threatened their cash flow the guns & ammo dept would vanish overnight. i've got 2 local gun shops i'd rather support.

If you're talking about "sweat shop" conditions of workers in foreign countries, Walmart is far from the only company that gets goods from such places. Almost all clothing sold in the US today comes from some third world hell hole and some goods marketed as "made in the US" are made in sweat shops in US territories where they employ "guest workers" from the same aforementioned third world countries. I'll bet you can't swing a dead cat in a US home today without hitting something made by the ChiComs and they, in my opinion, are far worse because they use forced labor of political prisoners.

Most companies carry insurance on key employees just as movie productions insure their stars. It's a smart and prudent thing to do not only for them but for stockholders as well.

I've got mixed feelings about right to work. I've been a member of a couple of unions mostly because if I'm not, I'm still a member of the bargaining unit but don't have any say. It's not exactly freedom of choice. I was watching "Cops" the other day and they had a policeman who just became a policeman in his forties in Florida only because Florida in a right to work state. I know in other juristrictions this is not possible because they have age restrictions.

Most businesses are in business to make a profit. If they are not, they are probably not in business for long.

So far, I haven't seen Walmart bend over and spread them like I've seen other, like, retailers do. A friend reported to me that he was asked if he had a history of domestic violence when he went to buy a knife at one national sporting goods chain.

I agree with supporting local gun stores and tackle shops. I just don't see Walmart as a huge threat to them, at least not here.

I view Wal Mart in the same light as Disney. Walt Disney was basically a pretty decent sort, but as soon as he died (and his brother Roy was shoved out), the Disney Corporation started down a totally different road, becoming what they are today, liberal-supporters and anti-gun. Sam Walton was a hunter and sportsman, but he's dead. The corporation no longer has his personal outlook to guide their operations. Hopefully they won't go the way of Disney.

Three times a year I host a "family gathering" and buy a fairly large quantity, 20-25 "bricks", of .22 rimire ammunition. For the past couple of years the clerk has asked me if it was for rifle or handgun. That irritates me, maybe for no reason, but it does. The clerk then writes it down on some sort of form. Last August when I went to buy the ammo, the clerk (always a different person) said that she would have to get management to OK the sale of that quantity. I told her, politely of course, not to bother and got it at local hardware stores. Paid more, but no hassle.

As far as K Mart goes, I won't spend a nickle there, but I hope they don't go completely under. I've got an idea that without the competition Wal Mart prices will go up considerably.
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.

Dont get me wrong, I love the sporting goods. I have bought several guns from wallmart. But my local gunshop says that if I spend a few extra bucks at his shop he will fix them for nothing when they break. That is if the warranty ran out.                                                                                                                           BUT........talk to someone who works at your local wallmart. They are anti union and they treat the employees like crap!!! At our union hall we have a three page letter explaing all this like they brag about seeling mostly american made stuff????? Go and look at the tags.....Hey I can complain all I want but its the only store in my little town and since a gallon of gas is 1.75 I dont think we will be going to the next town for a mom an pops store........ :(  :(
