Aperture sights for a Contender Carbine w/16" barrel?
« on: October 08, 2005, 06:47:26 AM »
I am wanting to configure a Contender carbine for hunting in the thickets.  I am a big fan of "peep" sights, and I plan to put a Williams aperture on the rear and a T/C fiber optic on the front.  I have a 16" 44mag barrel already.  I am worried that the short sight radius will be a problem.  The distance between the sights of an M1 carbine is 22".  Should I trade it for a 21" barrel in an appropriate caliber?  What do you guys think?  Thanks.

HI DOC!
T/C OFFERS A NICE PEEP SIGHT IT,S AROUND $50 IF I REMEMBER RIGHT. I HAVE ONE, AND LIKE IT ALOT. NEVER LOOKED AT THE WILLIAMS, (FOR A T/C) BUT HAD THEM ON OTHER GUNS AND LIKE THEM TOO!
I DONT THINK YOU'LL HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE SIGHT RADIUS, ON A 16 INCH BARREL. TRY IT AND SEE.
