slugshooter,
You need to go to the FAQ's or do a search on stuck cases.  Tons of info.  Also look at the bore and chamber polishing info.

If they are reloads, the first thing to mind might be a bit too high pressure, even though you may not be at or near max listed loads.  Handis are like that sometimes.

Try backing down .5 gr and see what happens, if the chamber polishing doesn't help.

Welcome aboard!! :D  What Handirifle said!!! I've got more than a bunch of Handis and Ultras, haven't had a stuck case in over a year unless it was my fault for a max load or I didn't clean the chamber of oil and solvent before I loaded up!! Polish and clean!!!

I just had another problem with this particular batch of reloads. I was gonna shoot but checked the chamber first and inside there was powder everywere and the bullet fell right out of the case and i had to take it apart cuz powder was everywere but its working good now 3 shot groups .75" at 75 yds. not bad

Well that didn't take long :-D

Nice going.  I often find when things don't seem to be going well, it's usually got something to do with me first.

how did the bullet fall out of the case?   was it possibly pulled out, because of a cartridge with too long of an overall length?(getting a bullet jammed into the rifling when you close the action......)

i suggest you use a dial caliper to check cartridge overall length on all of the loads in question and compare those lengths with the SAAMI spec'.

let us know, please.

SAAMI specs don't really apply to a Handi since that spec is designed to allow all loads to cycle through magazines..... but SS is probably hot on the reason it pulled out, although it would have to of been really loose in the case mouth for the weak ejector spring to eject the case and not the bullet. Almost all of my Handis have extremely long throats, so you should be able to load way over SAAMI specs and still not touch the lands depending on the bullet and caliber of course, there are some exceptions....like the 45-70 and my Hornet!!

What Quick means, I think, is that you can make ammo that is over the SAAMI OAL (overall length) specification, for use in handirifles.

Charge weights, bullet, primer, brass, etc. specs should be adhered to, and pressure levels should NEVER be exceeded.

Yup, we were referring to cartridge lengths, but a good point to clarify....

yes, i load cartridges with brass that is longer than the SAAMI spec.   it's ok because i've used the 'depth-gauge' end of a dial caliper to check the length of the relevant chamber parameter before doing so.    but that's not the same as loading for a too-long OAL' and jamming a bullet into the lands.

however:  i suspect that there is more wrong here than has been said.   some other aspects of reloading are also not being done properly -- i'm guessing -- causing the bullet to come loose and dump powder, etc.etc....

take care,

I agree...bullets just don't fall out of cases if they are reloaded correctly...especially in our Handi rifles...

Slug Shooter, welcome to the board.

Why don't you take us through your reloading sequence. I'm curious as to how you load your rounds.

Plus, I've got a 7MM08 in a Handi, and I'd like to hear what your load is.  I'm loading a 120 grain Sierra for my daughter right now, and it's not liking that bullet very much.

A word of caution here...Never....NEVER take someone elses word on reloaded ammunition, people make mistakes...it happens all the time...sometimes nothing drastic happens...othertimes...anything that can go wrong...does...and injury or death can occure....Always verify the data being used...the components...and all case measurements before using some elses prepaired ammunition.Your putting your life and those standing around you in danger when you do...Do yourself a favor...ask what he's using...and how he's determined it's safe...is it straight from a current reloading manual...or a load/combination he's picked up somewhere...how many reloads has he done with  the cases...was the brass new to start or picked up off the range somewhere..how good a reloader is he...is his bench cluttered with several different powders??? You won't really know unless you are right there watching him......and unless you know what he's doing...you still won't know what to look for...
