Cabelas hunts
« on: October 13, 2005, 05:27:58 AM »
I posted this on the 'Outfitters Reviews' board as well, but I thought it might get more visibility here.

Back in 2000 I was on one of the Cabelas un-guided caribou trips in western Alaska, the outfitter did their job well.

My wife and I are planning another, and may hit a different area of the state, using a different Cabelas outfitter.

My question: What expereinces have other hunters had with the Cabelas outfitters? I guess I'm just paranoid, but I'd like to be sure my first trip wasn't just good luck.

I have a little input: I booked a pronghorn hunt through them and it was excellent. It was a Wyoming hunt, the outfitter was SNS, the cost was no higher than what SNS charges. I'd go through Cabelas again.

I'm paranoid too. There are horror stories aplenty out there, so a little insurance up front is a good practice.
