My buddie say a BHN of 8  will be excellent for blackpowder loads and around 1600 FPS for smokeless
Cal: 45-70  405 FP ?

BHN of 8 cast bullet ?

Eight seems to me to be a bit soft for those velocities.  Mine come out 12-15, depending on whether or not I drop them in water from the mold.  I'd be happy to shoot 15 BHN bulets at 1600 fps (gas checked) all day.
