25-06 deer corn report
« on: October 08, 2005, 12:32:34 PM »
just got back from shooting my nef 25-06.this was the first time out with it.
went to a friends deer lease and we set the targets out and were firing off  a make do stand using deer corn bags.
first shot was a tad high and did a quick scope adjustment and then put 5 rounds into less than 1 inch group.I will be honest it really surprized me.
the handload I was using..

100 gr rem core-lock
50.0 imr 4350
rem brass
win lrp

I did all things on the sticky's above.mine has the ejector and it shot the brass over my shoulder ZERO problems.

Pete:

Thanks for the range report! :D   Mac has suggested that I buy a 25-06 for deer and antelope.

Five shots into less than an inch the first time out with a rifle is outstanding(I assume you're talking 100 yds).  Also glad to hear you had no problems with ejection.  Sounds like your rifle is a keeper.

sorry not a 100 yards but about 60 yards.all the room we had in a clearing out in the brush.I am sure the 100 yard wouldn't be much different.
recoil is just about nothing very easy on the shoulder.if someone whines about the kick on one of these there are a whimp.

Even at 60 yds 5 shots into less than an inch on the first time out is still impressive. :D

Take a look at this...

It's the first group I shot at 100 yards with my 25-06...which by the way is now a 338-06...My new one that I just got for my birthday last month.. shoots better than this...at least when my scope doesn't move  ...I'll have some targets to post next week...been busy all day working on the new one...getting the barrel bedded and on the reloading bench with a new set of used Forster Benchrest dies I picked up for less than $5.00... going to try some of the 110 grain Accubonds for it next Wensday if the weather and time is permitting...
