I'm looking for a set of grips for my Mod. 83 .454

The particular gun I have was made in 89' and has the spring with the nut in the grip frame.

I like the buffalo horn grips.....who and where makes grips for FA pistols? If anyone has or knows where any used Micarta, Rosewood, etc. are, I would sure be interested.

Thanks a bunch guys!!

Freedom arms offers a set of (rose?)  wood oversize grips that you fit to your frame , I have done a set and they came out pretty nice . the price I think was $45 .If you call to order have the S/N handy
I am going to make a set for my other 83 (both of mine are the older style ) out of black Corian, I have a few peices to make blanks from but I am not positive how well corian will hold up on a 454 . there are several grip makers that use Corian on rugers so it may just work , If I remember correctly the butter color corian is extremely close to aged Ivory in color  . There are 2 versions of the 83 grip frame and the grips are different , I have talked this over with FA .

I would go with Scott like RCL said. Just pull the grip frame off and mail it to him. Scott is a first class guy to deal with.

Take Care,
