GPS and computer software for Vietnam and Cambodia
« on: October 25, 2005, 02:53:22 PM »
I was just contacted by another guy growing older.  He is planning a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.  He is looking for mapping software for his Garmin Mapping gps.

A check at the Garmin website did not help me when it came to Garmin's World software.  The upfront information was not helpful.  There are a number of developers working with Garmin that are developing software for  other countries.  Gps users in the US and Canada are lucky.  There is good software for Europe, and more is being developed for Africa.  But Asia is another story.  Public mapping software is based on open governments.

Do you know of any computer mapping software for that SE Asia the will work with external gps connected to a laptop?
There is a learning process to effectively using a gps.  Do not throw your compass and map away!
