Repair/replace transfer bar??
« on: November 14, 2005, 01:34:38 AM »
We broke lil' ambushhunter's model 88 topper at the range this weekend.  Hammer cocks, but transfer bar is either broken or missing.  Don't know how it happened, we were using it to shoot and all the sudden it just broke.  I haven't taken it apart yet, wanted to ask you guys first, if anyone has instructions on how to replace the transfer bar?  Is it worth fixing? Seeing as how these shotguns are reasonably priced, I was thinking about just buying another in 12 ga. and then we would have the 20 ga. barrel  from the old one also to use (after proper fitting, of course) .  Would fixing the transfer bar be worth the time and expense? I don't know which pins to knock out.  Anyone had to do this??  Thanks, Ambush

There are a couple recent threads on broken transfer bars in the Centerfire forum. I keep a spare, just in case, it's the most commonly broken part on an H&R/NEF trigger group.

Thanks guys.  Quick, I did a search the other day before I posted this but not much came up.  I guess I used the wrong words in my search.
