Depends on what your shooting at...150 yards at...A grizzly bear...get a 30-06...or wait for the 35 Whelens to come out...150 yards at a Whitetail...get a 30-30...a lot cheaper to shoot...easier on the shoulder...and less trouble finding a accurate load for it...really though...it depends on what your going to encounter at 150 yards...

i'd personally take the .308 for game through the size of elk for shots out to 250 yds'.   not because it's always a better caliber, but  because it's got cheaper practice ammo (surplus), and match-grade projectiles -- if that ever matters.  it'll have well-developed bullets for hunting -- just like the .270, but will not be as hard on a barrel -- if that matters.   i believe in doing a lot of shooting when i can get to the range, and that makes the .308 a better candidate for me.   however, the recoil of a .270 with a 130 gr' bullet is pretty light, in my opinion.   that means that your shoulder (if not the rifle barrel) can stand to use up a lot of .270 ammo' from a bench.

there is one consideration here, however.    the .270 will launch a very-heavy-for-caliber bullet better than the .308 will do it.   you may have to look through a couple reloading manuals to prove that, but it's there.   the .270 Win' has relatively high sectional density going for it....

take care,

If I had to pick from the two you listed, I'd pick the .308. You can load it down to 30-30 or up almost to 30-06 velocities, if you handload. Plus there is a larger selection of bullets to choose from. If you don't handload, either one, with the edge going to the .270, IMHO. :D

270  would be my choice, especially if you don't handload. My favorite round is the 270 WSM, which you can't get in a Handi.....

I think 7MM-08 all the way.....lighter recoil than a .308 and all the performance and more    :-)  (you'd think as much as i recommend this caliber I'd OWN one,but they were out of 'em when i had my barrels fitted   :( )Call first to make sure they have what you decide on
Good shot placement + well constructed bullet = DEAD

Then on the 2 calibers your asking about...I say go with the 270...and go with the standard barrel...if your wanting to do a-lot of target shooting with it...pick up a Ultra-Comp barrel while they still have some...but hearing protection is a must while shooting these barrels...If your only going to have 150 yard shots...and picking up a new barrel...a  30-30 would work very well too...factory ammo is relatively cheap....and the 30-30 has proven itself on whitetails since it came out...no...it's not as fast as a 270 or 308....but at 150 yards...the deer won't notice

What is the best bullet winchester makes in grey box ammo for the 30-30? Silvertip, power-point, or hollow point? and 150 gr or 170 gr? I've got a .30-30 barrel but havent killed anything with it. It groups well at 100 yrds with 150 gr silvertips but I've never tried anything else in it.

I think you answered your own question.  If the rifle groups well with 150 grain silver tips that would be my choice.
