If you could only have three firearms for all your hunting needs, what would you choose?I would go with a 12 guage shotgun,22 lr semi-auto and my 7mm Rem mag.
If it aint fair chase its FOUL,and illegal in my state!

This is a little tougher than the "great 8" question.  I personally no longer owns any shotguns, never used them much.  But if I was going to pick 3 guns for more of a survival-hunting lifestyle in the area that I live it would be a 12 ga, my 280 sako and a 22 mag.

i would choose:

Browning 20 gauge semiautomatic
Marlin 917vs .17HMR
Ruger No. 1 .25-06

i already have all these and I would be happy with them if I ever had to go down to such a small number of toys.

God forbid.

Gee, I'm glad this is only a mental exercise!

My three:

Remington 3" 12 gauge Model 870.
Remington 30'06 Model 700
Kimber .22 LR Hunter Model

For the record, I don't currently own an '06 hunting rifle. However, if I could own just one, I would choose it as my "all purpose" centerfire rifle.

Since you said "If you could only have three firearms for all your hunting needs" I'm going on the premise that I'm still going to have my AR-15 and all my pistols, none of which I use for hunting.

Here's what I'd go with!

*Remington model 700 CDL 30-06 with a Leupold VX-II 4-12x40mm w/ Adj. Obj. scope.

*Remington model 7400 Carbine 30-06 (7600 would work too) with a Leupold VX-II 2-7x28mm Ultralight scope. This would be my woods/brush gun.

*Remington model 11-87 Premeir 12 ga. w/ a 28 inch Remchoke barrel and a 23 inch fully rifled barrel with a cantilever scope mount and a Leupold VX-II Shotgun scope. We have a rifle zone and a shotgun zone for deer hunting.
