I was trying to get something a little cleaner than Pyrodex, so after not being able to locate any American Pioneer Powder (the company doesn't have dealers in South Florida and were not interested in getting me any powder), I bought some 777. I used the same load (2 50/50 pellets and a 295 gr Powerbelt) as I was using with Pyrodex, and the results were disappointing. Group size doubled, both at 50 yards and at 100 yards, and the crud ring was much worse in my Omega. Groups with the 777 were very erratic with shots flying off from center in every direction. After about 10 shots, I ditched the 777, cleaned the barrel, and went back to Pyrodex. Group size immediately shrunk to the usual, and were centered in the bullseye. I wish it would have worked better. I hate cleaning up Pyrodex. Anyone else have similar results. Maybe it's just my rifle?
