I just picked up a new 1894C yesterday and noticed that where the carrier assembly front tab goes through that rectangle cut out on the bottom front of the receiver, mine sits to the left side and hits a bit when the action is worked. Is this how they are made or should it be centered in the receiver cut-out?

Congratulations on your new 1894C! Great rifle, lots of fun to shoot.

On mine, the tab you mentioned is centered. Maybe something is either bent or not aligned correctly. Does the action cycle ammo ok?

REDDR, after taking it appart it has a bent carrier. As I just got it on Manday I am taking it back to the store for an exchange.

Also, as all my 38/357 ammo is jacketed round nose, what are some good plunken ammo in flat point?

That's a shame about that carrier.

Some good, fairly cheap, but usually accurate plinking ammo in either 38 special, or 357 magnum is the Winchester "Win-Clean" stuff. It burns very clean, and shoots good in most guns.

It's tough to beat for plinking, or target shooting, but it doesn't expand at all in 38 specials, and very little in 357 magnums on game. It's great for small game(especially 38's), but it'll leave you with a wounded animal if you tackle anything bigger than a coon with it.
