I'M LOOKING FOR A BIG BORE LEVER GUN IN 45 COLT. I LIKE THE LOOKS OF THE MARLIN.  I ALLREADY OWN A ROSSI PUMA SS IN .357. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE ACCURACY OF THE PUMA, AND ITS PUT TOGETHER WELL! WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Well, Marlin doesn't make a .45 colt version in the GG but you can get the 1894CBC

If you want to get into a real Guide Gun you'll have to step up to 1895M-1895G-1895GS-1895-444 Models in either the .450 Marlin, 444 or the 45-70 calibers.

But as far as accuracy, you can bet your life on them.

I have a 1895 S guide gun in 45-70.  I put a scope on it.  It will shoot 1" three shot groups at 100 yards with Remington factory ammo.

I have a 44Mag in a Marlin and get great groups at 100 yards, my buddy bought my 45-70 and is getting extremely good groups at 100 yards with it. Marlin makes a good accurate gun.  :D

With the right load my 1895M (.450 Marlin) will shoot 3 shot groups into one big ragged hole all day long at 100 yards.

coopershooter - I agree with akpls - my guide gun in 45/70 with my 300 gr. handloads will shoot good groups all day long. That's even with the nasty ported 18" barrel and a leupold 2.5x scout scope in AO mounts. This past season it helped me get my biggest whitetail ever - 242 lbs dressed and 10 points! CEJ...
