Cabelas

Back in 2000 I was on one of their un-guided caribou trips in western Alaska, the outfitter did their job well.

My wife and I are planning another, and may hit a different area of the state, using a different Cabelas outfitter.

My question: What expereinces have other hunters had with the Cabelas outfitters? I guess I'm just paranoid, but I'd like to be sure my first trip wasn't just good luck.

Ive never used a Cabelas outfitted hunt. But, if I were you, looking to do this caribou hunt again, I would look to finding the herd with better numbers, thus better success rates. I keep hearing how bad the numbers on the Mulchatna herd are. I also keep hearing how good the western arctic herd is.

Maybe find the better 'bou herd(s), then try to pursue them with an outfitter/transporter who will get you to that area.

Finding the best 'bou herd would be my first step in my research. Then pick your outfitter/transporter.

Good luck
