Obsessive Compulsive Behavior
« on: October 14, 2005, 03:59:42 PM »
Well, after taking advantage of the only decent day of weather to shoot off a gob of 45-70 hand loads, today it rained and sonny boy's soccer game was canceled, so ordered up a new 30-30 handi from one local gun store and mosied on over to another across town and found a used 38-55 target rifle....will scoop that one tomorrow if it is still there....oh yeah, and ordered dies and supplies to hand load a bunch more, I have a problem.

Yeah, they do get under your skin, years ago i had a beautiful blonde stocked 22-250 when they first came out with them, but it hated my handloads and refused to extract/eject anything but new federal premium ammo....sold it for one of the persian 98/29 mausers from samcoglobal...but i have had the 45-70 for as long as i can remember...i think it was the 4th or 5th gun i ever bought....shoots really well with remington factory 405's and one or two of my handloads...it likes the lyman lrhp 500-grain schmitzers and remington 300 and 405's....I have since added a 270 ultra comp and a regular 280 handi rifle and now a 30-30 as well, will grab up the 38-55 tomorrow and a 22 hornet after that...my son's first two deer rifles were a stevens bolt 30-30 and a handi in .243 but that was pre-ultra light days and it proved a bit ponderous to him...wish i had never traded it off it had really nice wood...and why did they ever stop making those beautiful schnabel forearms???....I think the 45-70 buffalo should finally break my addiction ......and my wallet

Hmmm maybe we need to revamp the terminology here.  If you apply a medical meaning to "Handi-itis", it means "Inflammation of the Handi".  I don't want my Handi swollen... might throw POI off.

Don't hold me to this...but I did here somewhere that it has something to do with a swelling of a little understood part of the brain..it is however near the same section of brain where Reasoning is located and doctors never new this part was active...and that is why it effects some more than others.. so I think  the phenomenon is still being studied
