nef 12ga 3 1/2" & hevi shot
« on: October 12, 2005, 05:00:18 PM »
I need some help on choke selection .  I have a NEF  12ga 3.5" chamber. its the NTF Mossy oak Bottom land Turkey gun. I've had it for about 10years and have only used the factory turkey tube.
I'm wanting to use Hevi shot in shot sizes T and BB for close range coyotes And Fox ...

Can I use the factory turkey choke for hevi shot ???? If not can you tell me, what brand Choke maches NEL barrels and what choke to use???

Thanks in advance

For starters any Win-choke system or chokes that fit a Win Choke (Winchester) system will fit. Tru-Lock makes some nice and fairly inexpensive chokes tubes for them as well as some more expensive ones, they are reported to work great. Check the FAQ's for other chokes that fit....<><...

I went into the FAQ's in the centerfire H&R section and came up with the following (Which by coincidence I offered as info):

Source for choke tubes for H&R shotguns that use choke tubes?

The Winchoke system of chokes = Winchester/Mossberg 500 series/Browning Invector,
will fit the H&R shotguns that accept choke tubes.

Good Luck....<><....

I wouldn't suggest shooting heavishot through tighter than a full choke. especially in the larger sizes. It tends to pattern a little tighter than lead. The best way would be to pattern some in your gun. Being harder than lead I think it could damage an xxfull choke. I've shot geese out to 50 yards through a mod tube on my topper deluxe
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun
