What size and brand scope would you put on a CZ 550, 9.3-62 in a full stock configuration.  300 yd. maximum effective range, used as a woods and highline thumper for Elk and Bear and Canadian Whitetail.

Leuplod VXIII 1.5X5X20mm or a 2X7X33mm.  :D

A fixed 4x would work well. For a variable a 1.5x-6x would work great too. I like the Geramn #4 reticle for woods hunting and it will work in open territories too.

The 9.3 cartridge is a boomer with quite a bit of recoil.  A 1.5x-6x type scope would work fine, and the Elite 4200 comes to mind, but the problem is that it has short eye relief for such a powerful cartridge IMHO.

Leupold's generally have the longest eye relief, and I would strongly look at the VX-II or VX-III in a similar magnification range.

Another good choice would be a Zeiss Conquest in 3x-9x-40mm because it has a full 4 inches of constant eye relief.  The 3.5x-10x version only has 3.5 inches.

I've got a 9.3 wears a 1.75-6 Leupold, eye relief is fine, the 1.5-5 has better eye relief but I've found that  the objective lens is too small for woods hunting on dusk.
I'd go for the 2.5-8 if you want to keep the size of the scope down otherwise the Conquest 3 - 9.

Probably the same thing my Whelen wears, a Leupold 1.75-6 or a 2-7 which has even more eye relief. Don't see the need for more magnification than these two scopes give but for a hard kicker a like lots of eye relief.

Easy, a Burris 1.75X-5X-32mm Safari.  It's what I have on some of my larger medium bore rifles.  If you need more power then move up to a 3-9x 32 or 40mm.  Lawdog
