got a quick accuracy question! how is the accuracy for the ruger mark II 22 pistol. the stainless 6 7/8" bull barrel model. im thinkin bout gettin me one.

Very good accuracy.  If your intentions are target competition, get the same thing in blue finish.

They are more acurate than we as shooters are. I had my wife shooting clothes pens at 25 yards and 12 gauge hulls at 50 yards just resting the magazine on the bench using a dot scope. I generally run 70-80% on squirrel out to 50 yards. The sad thing is I rarely can do that with my 10-22.

thanks guys! i think thats what ill get! for some reason i only like stainless pistols?? i have no idea why i just prefer them over blued. i will be doin a lot of target shooting with it and some squirrel huntin. nothin serious though with the squirrel huntin. i just plan to carry it with me if and when im walkin and if i see one he gon get it.  also i was gonna put either the hogue rubber grips with the thumbrest on it or the VQ Volthane grips. also i would get a new hammer and sear and trigger for it.  and i was thinkin about puttin the V-Comp on it too. i guess its just like any other compensator. what are yall's opinions on these upgrades especially the V-Comp.  i also plan to put an ATN ultra sight on it too. thanks for yall's help!

I've got the competition target model.  I think it is the same one you are talking about, except mine has the slab side barrel.  The only thing that I have done to mine that you are thinking about is the grips.  I really like the Hogue thumbrest grips, they are a little smaller than the wood thumbrest ones that come on the pistol.  They are a touch "sticky" feeling when it's warm out, and are just as good when it's cool...very comfortable.

Here are some targets I shot when testing the accuracy of my 5.5" MKII. All 10 shot groups - top @ 50 meters , 2X scope - middle @ 25 yards 2X scope , bottom left @ 25 yards 2X scope and bottom right @ 50 ft Tasco Pro Point. The MKII should provide you with plenty of accuracy for most rimfire pistol applications.

Rememer try out a bunch of different ammo to see what your particular gun prefers.  It may shoot one horrible but may really like another brand.

I bought a MK2 5" bull barrel recently, and it shoots as well as my 6&7/8 tapered target MK1. While its true about the ammo I have only found that my guns including a S&W 617 shoot Wolf target, CCI silhouette, and federal game shock, better than the rest. They don't consume Remington well. All others are good also, and I have tried most brands and weights, with the exception of the winchester dyna-what ever, can't find a place that has it in stock.

I have various Mark II models in blue and stainless and think that, out of the box, the blue models have a better trigger pull.  I had to put in a Volquartsen sear to improve the stainless models but they are now better than the blue ones.

The factory trigger pull on the blue models are good enough for me not to spend the money to make them any better.

A lot of pistols have come and gone, but I still have my Ruger MK 11 competition target in s/s with the slab side bull barrel. It is super accurate and handles any ammo I put through it without a hitch. Its tough to improve on perfection.  :wink:

I bought a Ruger MKII in 1984, it's the 5 1/2" bull barrel blue model.  I can't imagine ever parting with this pistol.
