:-D I mentioned this in my other post about my .308 Win - I've been working on a heavy paper patched bullet for my 45 Colt and I think I found a winner. It's a Lyman mould that casts a340 gr. - .446 bullet meant for a .43 Mauser and then I patch it with 16# layout paper, lube it, and run it through a .452 Lee die. (I size it down because the 16# paper makes the diameter around .460) I took my experiment to the range today and shot 3" groups at 25 yards and a 1/2" - 5 Shot group at 7 yards! I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a great handgun shot, (yet) but this was great. I loaded them to an OAL of 1.75" over 13.5 grs of 2400. The extra length fits fine in my Blackhawk cylinder. The recoil isn't bad, it's less than some 300 gr. hard cast loads that I've shot. I wish I had a chronometer. Does anyone know if PPB's develop lower pressures than normal jacketed or cast bullets? The recoil just doesn't seem that bad from the loads that I've been working on - any insight to this would be great.
