Welcome Aboard WJC, you have a great gun there. Clean it well and try the inexpensive Value Pak Winchester HP's from WalMart for about $14 for 40 rounds. Make sure you get the hollow points, they seem to shoot great in all H&R's and are the "gold standard" by which all other .223 ammo seems to be judged here on this forum. Get back to us with your shooting results. Checking the stickys is a great way to start, pull the trigger all the way to the rear, just don't "trip" it. Rest the rifle by the hinge pin, just forward of the trigger guard, try these for starters. Glad to have you here and have fun. Oh yes, expect about 1" groups at 100 yards with a scope!! The gun is up to it if you are. It may or may not need a bit of "tinkering", but that is the fun of it, all the info is here for you, just ask....<><....
