I recently read that Peter Hathaway Capstick, the African PH and author, had died. Does anyone know when this occured, or how?

I just received this reply from another forum (24 Hour Campfire):

"Peter Hathaway Capstick passed away on 13 March, 1996 in Pretoria, South Africa from complications following surgery. His ashes were scattered over the Chobe River in Botswana."

The internet is truly amazing. I knew someone would have the answer. I have enjoyed Capstick's books over the years and couldn't find any information on his death using Google. He must have been fairly young when he passed away.

So, we are talking about 1996 as if it is recent news? Hah, hah, so much for the speed of the internet!!! BTW, if you don't have anything else to do, look up some of Finn Aagaard's works, he was a field editor for the NRA. And an African professional hunter before that. He published some great work on the comparative penetration of many big game centerfire rounds.
P.S. He's dead too. His work is outstanding.

I, too, am a huge fan of Peter Capstick. He died of comlications from heart disease, I beleive during surgery.
