FA 383 casull

Has anyone heard much about this new 383 casull?  Supposidley it's supposed to be a .357 caliber with more power than even a .357 maximum, but with the same casing specifications as a .357 magnum?  Interesting to say the least... but I am still a little pressed to believe that there is any way it has more power than the maximum...  If it really is, I'm buying it.

Correction, 353 casull, not 383, my bad.  I did some more research, and it turns out, to load these rounds, one uses normal .357 mag brass (because that seems safe), and the bullet should only be fired out of this 383 handgun, and no other .357.  So I guess you'd just dump twice the powder and pray it works right.  They also say use new brass, rifle primers, etc...

Hello Folks,
New guy here. I have one of these FA 353s. It's an old model designation for what is now the model 83 in 357. You can get a FA 357 in model 97 ( medium frame ) 6 shot, or the 83 ( full size frame ) 5 shot. Since the model 83 can handle the likes of the 454 Casull, I doub't there is a 357 handload that can faze this revolver.
When FA first bagan to offer the 357, they thought trying to market it in a similar fashion as the Casull ( 454 ) ie ( 353 ) would be a clever way to go. Don't know how long, or how many they produced as 353s, but they're not sold as 353s any longer.
I only know this because I picked mine up 2nd hand at a gunshow about a month ago, and was surprised I couldn't find the model on the FA website. So I called them & the above was what I was told. Mine does have a pretty low 3 digit serial number.

It does shoot like a dream.

John Taffin wrote an excellent article on the FA Model 353.  Try sixguns.com or do a search for the article.  It's a very good read on this revovler.

Thanks for the welcome. Really nice to see a forum dedicated to the FA revolvers. I've read a lot of the posts, and the folks seem to range from those looking forward to someday being able to aquire their 1st, to some that sound like they have a suitcase full.
