.177 or .22 and how strong?

I am in the market for an air gun and not sure which one to get.It will be mainly target shooting with an ocassional squriell or rabbit.I would like to spend no more than $300 to %400 total for rifle and scope and I would like it to shoot well out of the box with a light trigger.Am I asking too much for what I want to spend?thanks. sj

adjustable rekord trigger but scoping may cost you a bit more depending on just how nice a scope you want. I beleave the gun is on sale at compassesso for $277 but you can also tru D&R sports price wise. a good scope and mounts is up to you O like the new leapers bugbuster models and the proce is right on them with the 4X and 6X fixed models around $50 minus rings other scopes are of course avaiable just make sure you get one "springer" rated for airguns and you should be ok.
