G2 vs Encore frame
« on: October 20, 2005, 03:24:50 PM »
Would the G2 frame with/custom 45 cal muzzleloader  barrel be less accurate than than an Encore frame/with a similiar Custom barrel, due to the smaller size of the G2 frame?

What are the down sides of the G2 vs the Encore.  I'm considering another 45cal muzzler loader but built on a smaller G2 platform.  My only concern is losing accuracy compared to my existing Encore. 45cal.

TCAS, Randy Wakeman did a great review of the Contender 45 cal.  A simple google search should bring it up.  If memory serves, he considered it to be the only 45 cal worth its salt.

thanks, I found the article,  The difference in published weight and actual weight concerns me as  the primary reason to go with the G2 format was to reduce overall weight  My accuracy concerns were secondary.

TCAS the total weight of the G2 will be 7lbs or just alittle under all scoped up ready to hunt.i have a friend that has the G2 and we weighted it just for you.very nice setup i might add.the accuracy from the G2 and Encores  are very good.you talking about TCs here not CVAs

Randy must of got a very heavy G2 or something.check out the G2 someplace and you wont be unhappy with it.

G2 = one fine rifle

Encore and his little brother the G2
the g2 is all scoped up now.its setup with a B-Square base,Burris QD rings and a Millett 1.5x4 variable scope

Jeff223,

thanks for the pic,  7 lbs total would be very good, my current encore with full Bull 24 inch barrel, 4x16 scope, and beavertail forend is close to 10 lbs

Think I will order a G2 frame and then place an order for another 45 cal barrel 23 or 24inches but not in a full bull barrel diameter.

I hope one of the custom shops can make a barrel with a smaller taper.
