Anschutz Magazine Question
« on: October 23, 2005, 07:55:41 AM »
I need more mags for my 1712. I have been told that there is a cheaper mag that works fine with a minor adjustment. Can anyone tell me what to buy and how to modify it? OR am I just better off to buy the Anschutz Mags? If so who has the best deal on them...

Thanks

Yes.  I saved the packaging last time I ordered these same mags from Brownells:  SA65-142 SAVAGE 35/34 5-SHOT MAGAZINE, 533-400-355.  You do have to file a notch in the rear of the mag, near the top.  If you hold one up to a factory Anschutz it's obvious.

Indeed

I have those very same mags but be careful when filing them down cause if you go a little to far with the file when you push the mag into the gun it will go up a little to far, so when you go to load the bullet when pushing the bolt forward it will catch the bullet at the receiver ..simple fix is when you load the mag pull down on it as if to try and pull the mag back out of the gun without releasing the clip - dont pull hard its only a few millimetres depending on how much you are off that you pull it down....

I have been using mine for about a year now and they are excellent value for money..they cost 10 dollars a pop though when i bought em...then delivery...
hope this helps...

If anyone is interested in original Anschutz mags I have 5 left. I'll sell them for 25 a piece or all 5 to one person and we'll split the shipping.
