Garand 2-round clip
« on: October 26, 2005, 06:16:24 AM »
Has anyone ever taken a standard Garand 8-round clip, and modified it for 2-rounds?

I seem to recall reading somewhere, long ago before I had my Garand, that this was doable.  I think the instructions called for cutting the clip on its side, and bending part of the metal inward so that only 2 rounds would fit.

Anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Just cut a piece of wood the size of six rounds,in Kalitaxia to hunt one cannot exceed 5 rounds in semi.

Good idea!

I was also wondering if you could put in 8 empty cases, and then epoxy or solder 6 of them in place, so they stayed in the clip permanently, leaving you with room for only 2 rounds.

I've thought about buying/making a 2 rounder, but its just easy enough to load the requisite 2 rounds with a standard clip. A 2-rounder is sort of like training wheels on a bicycle.

Cooper,

I recall my dad showing me an article (I think it was NRA mag.) in which folks attached a square nut to the clip to limit rounds.  I can't remember how the nut was attach but I suppose you could use a spot weld or a flat head bolt.  I don't know if epoxy would work.

Blessings!

I just shot in a John C Garand match last weekend,, we had to shoot 10
rounds , with a time limit .. mosy of the guys either had a 2 round enblock
that was home made.. cut with a dremmel a slot just pass where 2 rounds
would go, leaving enough left to make a couple lips to hold the rounds..
you have to heat the metal up to take the temper out of it..
mine worked good, ejected just fine
