Hey Guys,

Anyone get behind the trigger of one of these yet? Sure would be nice to be shooting an American made rifle on the silhouette line.

I know of at least one competitor from Phoenix who bought one and now wishes he hadn't. The bolt handle broke on his rifle. He called Remington to obtain a replacement and was told he would have to send the complete rifle to them. He ended making and installing a replacement himself.

He reported the factory set trigger was really mushy and that he had to put a few hours of work to set it to his liking. As far as precision goes, he has no complaints.

My own personal opinion, which along with 50 cents might buy you a cup of coffee, is tha you go with a CZ and have the trigger tuned. CZ's are probably the best value for the money.

You want "American Made" do this...

Buy an 54 MSR repeater action and send it to Mark Pharr (Round Rock, TX)and have him knock the barrel out and do his magic to it and thread a Lilja barrel (Plains, Montana) into it and drop it into a Robertson composites (Ontario, Canada - Damn..LOL, North Amer continent anyway...LOL) stock, With all metals and bases and rings from metal head (Marvin Pearson - Chehalis, Washington ??), Spring kit to convert trigger from Brownells (Montezuma, Iowa ), Scope from Leupold (Beaverton, OR ) with reticle from Premier Reticles (Winchester, VA ).

My suggestion would be to do that or buy the $300 CZ and be done with it, don't waster you time trying to turn a $600 remington into a CZ, you will simply end up flustered...IMHO. If you want a "out of the box" shooter than buy an Anschutz that will give you years of service and serve you well.

Thanks Guys, man was hoping Remington might have actually gotten it right this time.

I've got a couple of 54's already and a CZ and yes they certainly are shooters. A good buddy was interested in them as well but I think he already has his on the way. :eek:

One of the guys that shoots at our matches has one. I like the design of the rifle. It sits well in my split-finger hold and the magazine is flush with the bottom of the rifle, so it's a little more comfortable than my CZ 452 Varmint, even with the old style BRNO magazines in the CZ. That said, it doesn't shoot any better than the CZ so I doubt I'd spend the extra money on it.
