Was wondering who had experience with deer size game using light .308  bullets in an Encore?
Light, meaning 110-130.
Thanks

I have shot a lot of size .308 bullets out of a Contender.  I would use a Nosler 125 ballistic tip on deer.  I would not use any of the 110s that come to mind as most are made to blow up varmints or punch holes in paper.    There may be some out there that will be adequate, but is that what you want on a nice deer?  Adequate?

Just finished up the deer hunt in Utah and used my Encore pistol with Virgin Valley barrel 16 1/4" long. Used Winchester brass and primers, IMR 4895 (46 grs) and Nosler 125 BTs.  Did the job ..... only things that concerned me was when I set the bullet 20 thousands off rifleings there wasn't much bullet holding it in the brass. the bullet is a boat tail so not much there to seat in brass. Worked OK though. Kinda cute with the little green tip, that what the girl friend said. BTW the recoil was a lot milder than I thought it would be.
Thinking of using a Barnes X 140 gr or Hornady 150 gr SST next year.
