handi handloading mania
« on: October 28, 2005, 02:44:49 PM »
Well, finally got around to making up about a ton of handi rifle ammo...loaded a bunch of 30-30 rounds for the newest member of the family .... loaded them with 150-grain wincheste powerpoints and 38 grains of H380.....then, loaded up a bunch of 45-70 rounds using speer 400-grain jacketed flat points and IMR 3031 powder for about 1300 feet per second.....so far have found factory remington 405 grain flat points to be the best premade stuff and my lyman 500 grain schmitzers at about 1100 ft/sec as a close second...i think i used a 2.8cc dipper....probably shot about a 3.5-inch group at 100 yards from a seated position....now, have to get going on a recipe for the .270 ultra-comp and the 280 remington!...just got some redding dies and a pile of projectiles for them too......going to be a long winter at the lee press..... :D
