22mag for varmints?

My wife is from Vandervort its just south of Cove and yes most of the land is still owned by paper comp. but hunting clubs have got most of it on lease. I hunt in the mountians just north of there and its all goverment land and most were I hunt is WMA Canney Creek is some 90,000 acers. Its real mountianous and ruff but theres not many hunters. Hi do you know where Umpire or Athens is a little spots in the road. I hunted around there . We thought about going down there for rifle season . But i didnt know if the paper co had lease all the land out to hunting clubs . VM

Yes I know where there at Ive hunted three before got friends down there. They might still have some land open I don't know. Or you could just hunt the Goverment land its really not hunted that much sometimes I never see another hunter in the woods! Alot of the lease land is hunted with dogs :evil: , and thats something I just can't stand, so I don't hunt there. In the WMA land theres no dog hunting for deer. Mag-Check

Hi is there very many deer like there use to be down there. The first few yrs i went down there they was deer every where. But the last time i hunted down there i didnt see hardly any deer it was like they was killed out. I like it because it got me away from the house for a week. lol And you could kill a doe up here where i live you cant. I was setting down there one day on a push up of tree's . And these 2 guys let  35 running walkers out. :shock:  :shock:  :shock:  I was trying to still hunt. lol They ran deer by me look like a fighter jet as fast as they came out of the woods with the dogs after them. That is one thing i didnt like hunting down there. That and spot lighters was bad last time i was down there. VM

Yes theres still alot of deer down there,I got a Howard county Managment permit to hunt modern gun and the last muzzleloading season and no dam dogs!!! The WMA that we will be hunting is loaded with deer and hogs! And its around 20,000 acers. I think you can buy permits for $10.00 contact the Game and fish down at Hope and find out. Mag-Check

Hi when i hunted down there. I hunted the other side of the road. from the WMA. When i hunted down there they didnt have any hogs. Is there a good number of hogs down there . Sound like a thing to check out thanks VM

Me and brother went down there last Febuary and there was lots of hog sign and had a buddy kill a nice 200lb. hog with his 22 magnum! Its rimfire or shotgun only after deer season in the WMAs. He was shooting the Win Super X 40gr. HPs at 20yds. a head shot put her down for good! God I love that 22 magnum!  Mag-Check

Hi i talk to one of the Commissioners on the G&F and they are thinking about chaning the 22 rimfire on WMA. I will have to drive down that way around gun season . To check things out. Where is the Gov, land you hunt that you are talking about. VM

Hi can you deer hunt with a gun on the Gov. land. And is ther any hogs on it. And how any land do they have. Can you kill either sex. VM
