I'm thinking about buying a bipod for my TC Encore 30-06 pistol. Anyone have any experience with the barrel mounted one that Fox Ridge Outfitters sells? Seems like it would cause problems since it's barrel mounted.

I don't like that idea.I would just get or make some shooting sticks.

Matt,
With a bipod mounted to the barrel you will change your point of impact using the bipod campared to not using it. If you intend to use it all the time it will be ok but if you sight your weapon using the bipod and then shoot without it the shot will almost always go low.

Its a terrible idea, If you want a bi-pod put a wood forarm on it and attach it to a sling swivel. Works great. KN

I have used a Harris bipod with a clamp-on barrel mount. I agree with most folks...if using the pistol with the bipod all of the time, then go with it. If you do decide to take off the clamp and bipod, be sure to sight in again. I also have installed a swivel stud, and can now attach and detach the bipod on my forearm, which is just as nice. I also have a pair of shootin sticks from Stoney Point, and use only them at the present time. Much less hassle, and can be adjusted easily in height. THe choice is yours...I have had success with all of the above listed bipods.
