I just picked up a 22" 223 Bull Barrel for a great price. I'd like to have it re-bored to 6X45 with a 1:10 or 1:12 twist. I'd mostly be shooting 75-90 grain bullets in it.

Can anyone reccommend a gunsmith and tell me about what I should expect to pay for this service? Would I be better off having a custom barrel made? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate the great wealth of experience available on this board.

If i were doing it i would sell the 223 barrel and put that money toward the custom barrel you will be out around the same money doing it this way.

There really are only a handful of companies doing reboring of barrels these days as far as I was able to determine back when I had an itch to have that done. Cost at all was more than the cost of a new TC barrel.

I'd have to agree the wise move is to either trade it on what you want or just sell it and buy. Either way you'll come out way cheaper.

Well, durnit anyway, that's what I was afraid I was going to hear. Guess I'll have to quit trying to be so darn cheap and just spring for a custom. Thanks.
