Need load data for 130gr 6.5mm Barnes Tripl
« on: October 31, 2005, 04:50:13 AM »
Anyone know of a source of load data for the Barnes Triple Shock X bullet in 6.5 x55, 130gr?  I'm wanting to work up a deer load and I don't want to invest in a Barnes manual just to try this bullet out.  Loads using any common 6.5x55 powder will do, but my Mod. 70 Featherweight seems to like Reloader 22 with other bullets.

SR James,

Last year the wife used the 130 gr. Barnes TSX using 48.3 gr. of Reloder 19 for 2,852 fps.  This year I switched her to the new 120 gr. Barnes TSX using 50.3 gr. of H450 for 2,970 fps.  She took two nice Mule Beer bucks and a 180 lb. dressed Wild Boar with this load.  Lastly, as I tell everyone, with any load you get given to you that doesn't come from a reloading manual start under the recommend powder charge and work up.  As a rule of thumb I start 10% under.  Lawdog
