scope base on Encore
« on: October 31, 2005, 06:45:03 AM »
I purchased a used 7-08 Encore barrel with the scope base already installed.  It is a one piece base.  I was getting ready to take it out for another round of shooting and found the the front of the base is elevated about 1/16" off the barrel.  The base and scope do not feel loose and the mounting screws are towards the back of the base.  Is this common to be mounted like this or is my base bad?

If the base is bad please give me recommendations for a new base.  the rings are weaver signature series.

Thanks

It is common on some as they are made to fit bull and tapered barrels. they will follow full length on bull but leave a gap on tapered. Burris one piece rifle base for Encore has a small screw to adjust down and make contact at the front.

It is normal with a Weaver mount.  :D
