Tikka T3 or CZ 550

I'm ready to purchase a new rifle for my wife that I may also utilize for whitetail. Since she's a beginner I'm thinking 6.5x55 swede. I prefer long cartridges and at least 22" barrels blued with wood. I have no experience with either CZ or Tikka mostly Remingtons. Winchester also chambers 6.5x55 but I prefer not to wade through all the short mags to get one.  Whats your opinion?

Light gun, extremely accurate , very little recoil with Hornady 140gr.  Has all the knock down you need, the swedes hunt moose with 160gr. in them.  Great looking gun.  This is my favorite stalking and walking gun.  CZ is very accurate also but the action on the T3 is sliky smooth.....  See if she likes the look and balnace of the gun in her hands, I am betting she will.

Thank you Buckfever. Thats exactly what im looking for. Have you harvested any whitetail with it? A long shot in this area would be 150 yds.

I own both a CZ and Tikka rifles.  Both of these rifles are extremely accurate.  I would recommend the Tikka T3 for your wife because of the light weight .  With a limbsaver recoil pad, there should be almost no difference between the two rifles in recoil, but I am sure that she will appreciate the difference in weight after a long day of hiking around.  If your hunting is mostly in tree stands, the weight become a non issue and I cannot help you make that choice.  Both are excellent rifles and I am sure you will be happy with either choice.

I have harvested two deer both about 150lbs.  I used some homeloads with a 140gr. Nosler Partition.  However now that I have had the gun for a while I think a 120gr. would be just fine.  The 140gr. Hornady's don't have a lot of recoil and are quite accurate.  If shooting out to 200yds and further I think I would try to reload some 120gr.'s.  Get caliber!!!
