Synthetic stock cleanup?
« on: October 28, 2005, 05:48:40 PM »
What would be the recommended way to clean up a synthetic stock on a Winchester Model 70?  Will good old soap and water do the trick?
If I can make it go bang it can't be that hard to do.

Depends on what is making it need cleaning. If that is water soluble, then water and dishwashing soap works well. I'll scrub them with an old paintbrush to wash. If that dosen't work, Shooter's Choice and a short stiff brush will get most of anything else off.

I have taken the action out of the stock and washed them up good with car washing soap.  Use car wash mitt and soft bristle brush if needed.  Make sure it is completely dried before putting it back together.
